What to Wear Them With

Wearing tanks, and graphic tee is a big n0-no for work and school. Try wearing your sweats with a lace tee, and a knit cardigan, or you could also try a plaid shirt. If you’re feeling.. daring try your sweats with a blazer. So chic!

You must be wondering what not to wear sweats with, right? When trying to look presentable wearing sweats with tank tops, UGGs, or large tees and sweatshirt are huge no-no’s. Don’t get me wrong, I love my UGG’s and comfy tee’s but when trying to look nice, I put these items back onto the clothes hanger.

Shoes, a girls best friend. When wearing sweats, don’t head straight for your sneakers, and flip flops, try something else, dare I say rain boots? Plain, black rain boot strangely look great with sweats. You could also try Sperrys, or gladiators with boyfriend sweatpants.

1. A fleece jacket, they keep you warm on the slopes, or during school! They can be pricey but you can also find them at target for reasonable amount of money! I have a northface fleece, their warm and cozy, and was totally worth the money!

2. A winter hat! Nothing’s worse than having cold ears in the winter! You can buy super cute hats almost anywhere, I’ve had my eye on one from abercrombie shown above, it is $25.00, but looks totally worth it!

3. UGGS! You can find information about uggs here. They are super cozy, and can look classy, but also cozy! Let’s face it, who wants cold feet?

4. Pomegranate Burt’s Bee’s Chapstick. LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT! Not only does it hydrate your lips, but it smells amazing! Be warned, it gives you lips a slight pink/red tint! However, it smells great, all you friends will be jealous! To find out more click here!

What your Scrapbook may look like!

It’s a lazy Friday night, you are looking through the latest issue of Teen Vogue and then, there it is, the best, most amazing, and prettiest shoes ever! You spend the next ten minutes gazing at the magazine, practically drooling, you remember them and promise that you will buy them next Friday, when shopping with your BFF, Lacey.

Suddenly it’s Friday, and you are at Dannie’s Shoe Store, with Lacey. Then, something tragic happens you forgot what the best shoes  look like! You start looking around, hoping when you see it, it’ll pop up. You buy a pair, and you go  home to only to find they were the wrong ones. Great, you have spent $100.00 on a pair of shoes that weren’t ‘ the one’.

Thats where fashion scrap booking comes in handy, my friends. You see the best pair of shoes ever, cut it out and there, presto, you wont loose them again! Heres who to fashion scrap-book.

Step 1: Go to any office supply store, and get a scrap-book, it should be fairly large with blank pages, maybe little design, but not covered.

Step 2: Get supplies! Pretty markers, stickers, glue, scissors, anything! Let your mind go wild!

Step 3: Go through every issue of Teen Vogue that you have, or really any magazine, snip out any cool article of clothing, cosmetic, or lip gloss that you adore! Glue it in the scrap-book, and finally, the next time you go to Dannie’s Shoe store, just grab your scrap-book, and run out the door!

How could a small town girl be the Editor in Chief at Teen Vogue? Amy Taran Astley was born on 06/05/67 (that makes her 42 years old) Despite what you think, she wasn’t always into ‘fashion’. When she was a teenager she was more into style than anything else! After graduating from Michigan State University; Astley joined Vogue in 1993 and later became a Beauty Director.  She also wrote for Teen Vogue magazine.  Astley was also the editor of Teen Vogue’s four test issues, which were published from 2000 – 2002. Prior to Vogue, Astley was an Associate Editor at HG for four years. Her big break was when she was named to edit the new magazine in June 2002 by Anna Wintour Editor in Chief Vogue and Editorial Direction of Teen Vogue. Astley of  was promoted to the job of Editor in Chief at Teen Vogue!

You must be thinking, “Wow, it didn’t take Amy too long to become Editor in Chief, right?” Wrong. It took Amy just under 10 years to become Editor in Chief. Do you think you would stick with fashion for ten years? One thing that shocks me about Amy Astley is that she has no degree in fashion at all! She only has a B.A. in English Literature from the Honors College of Michigan State University.

Amy always wanted Teen Vogue to be a magazine for teen girls who loved fashion, and a way for them to express themselves! She didn’t want a typical teen magazine, filled with embarrassing moments, boy quizzes, and Disney stars. The first issues of Teen Vogue were published February and March 2003. The first celebrity on the magazine was Gwen Stefani, although, the covers can be celebrities, models, or famous designers.

Currently, Amy lives in New York City with her husband and two children. All four of them live in Manhattan. She attends many fashion shows, she is very busy with Teen Vogue, and publishes an issue a month. She begins the day at 6am, and reads several newspapers and magazines. She arrives at the office at 9am; she meets with designers, and photographers. She also spends a considerable amount of time organizing the magazine, and writing articles. Sometimes she has lunch with a designer, and for her afternoons, she goes out to the market to look at clothes in showrooms. Her afternoons normally consist of the same things she does in the morning. In the evening she attends ceremonies, product launches, cocktail parties, art openings, and sometimes she goes to the theater.

I guess I’ve learned, no matter where you live, what your dreams are, and what you study, you can always fulfill your life long dream.

1. J.Crew  has lovely flip flops! They have sizes 6-12, with a soft base and pretty bands there is no way you could go wrong. Prices are about $20.00-$30.00 depending what kind you get. I just got a pair, and I can’t stop wearing them! Put them in the sun for 10 minutes, and when you step into them it feels amazing!

2. Old Navy, has ever color known to man, they also have a few pretty designs! They are not always comfortable, but they go great with any outfit. I have 2 pairs, and my white ones go with every outfit! Now, you can buy 2 pairs for $5.00

3. North face, I have had them for about a year now, and let me tell you, they are indestructible. I have been hiking in they several times, they are awesome water shoes, they have survived an attack from my 1-year-old labrador, and have lasted a night in the snow! They are amazingly comfortable, and I couldn’t live without them! The only downside it that they don’t have a wide selection of colors. About $20.00.
